To me, Pavorotti was the world's greatest tenor in this century.  I have never heard in real life a more beautiful voice than his. 

There was a period of time in NYC when I saw a lot of him.  Although he was married, he always had a girl friend (in fact, he has a lot in spite of the fact that he is so fat).  A lot of his girl friends were he personal secretaries,10? or more.   You can't imagine how girls flock to him even though you think he is so fat.  But of course, he was a genius.  God gave him the greatest voice in the world .

He loved to entertain his friends.  After an opera performance, he would invite us to his hotel suite high above Central Park in NYC and like at midnight,(yes, very late...after the performance!)  he would cook pasta for us.  He and his musician friends like Pinkus Zukerman, Daniel Baronbaum, Zubin Mehta(my favourite conductor!!!) and his girl friend and agent will gather... we would be cracking jokess and generally have a marvelous time.  Those were the moments I would never forget. 

The last 10 years, I have been travelling to China so much.  I had seen little of him.  But I will treasure the memories I had with him.  He was a wonderfully generous, fun and loving person. I will certainly miss him so very  much.  The whole world shall miss him.

He was a national treasure of Italy the whole Italy stopped work on his death.   You know, the Italians will use any excuse to not work.  His death was an excuse, but this is an excellent  excuse.
