去年7月的一起車禍奪去了施泰納妻子蘇珊的生命，從此施泰納就一直隨身帶著蘇珊的照片，高強度的艱苦訓練就成為施泰納擺脫痛苦思念折磨的唯一途徑。26歲的施泰納在奪金後激動地表示，他的亡妻蘇珊在比賽中一直陪伴著他，給予他奪金的勇氣。他說：“我所有的期盼就是蘇珊在今天可以看到我的成功。我不是一個迷信的人，但我可以肯定的是，蘇珊在注視著我，她在我的心裏，給予我勇氣和力量。這是一場獻給蘇珊的勝利。”

Last July, Matthias’s wife died in a car accident, since then he has taken her picture with him all the time. Hard working and training became the only way to survive in missing and sufferings. The 26-year-old Matthias said excitingly “She gave me the courage and strength. All I expect is to let her see my victory today. I am not a superstitionist, but I am sure she is watching at me and this victory is for her. ”

馬·施泰納奪得的這枚奧運金牌不僅是德國16年來獲得的第一枚奧運舉重金牌，更證明了愛能創造奇跡。
