Tonight I was invited to have dinner there in honor of the famous UK movie star, Jude Law.  Usually he does not have a moustache.  but tonight he has one.  Why?  because he is making a movie on Sherlock Holmes in the UK and he is here only for Dunhill.  He told me that his career's turning point was the movie The Incredible Mr. Ripley.  (if you have not seen it, you must!  it is really a great movie) and that he loves not only making movies, but on stage.  Stage acting is really demanding.  In film or TV, you can always edit and repeat till you are perfect. sometimes a scene makes 50 takes, but on stage, every night, you must perform LIVE with a LIVE audience.  That is real performance.  You have to be really good to be on stage.  Anyway, i was seated next to him at dinner.  He was a most adorable companion.  Of course, i do not need to mention his good looks. But he was so charming.  He has a great deal of curiosity, about everything...about Chinese culture about people and everything he hears. He has a knack of making me feel that he REALLY is interested in what you have to say.  he would say "Oh, this is so interesting!"   He makes you feel so special.   What a gentleman.  It is how someone make you FEEL that is important. Remember what I say in my book.

Go to the DVD stores.  Look for films that Jude has done.  You will perhaps love the movie he does with Wang Kar Wai, called Blueberry night.  He loves working with Wang.  He thinks it is a most freeing way to act, because there is no pressure.  everything becomes so easy...

Enjoy Jude Law.  I had told him about the Shanghai Film Festival next year.  I hope he will attend with his 3 children so we may see him again!
