A HEROIN addict with 105 previous crimes to his name has been sent to prison for stealing a bag from a train.

Prosecuting, Alison Jordan told magistrates the bag and its contents, which were worth Pounds 1,000, were taken from a Plymouth to London train on September 22.
Harrison had been stopped by police later that day walking down a street in Newton Abbot carrying the bag.
He told police he intended to sell the bag and its contents.
Harrison had been due to be sentenced on December 11 but had not attended court.
Mitigating Alan Parsons said his client would regard a prison sentence as a 'cake-walk'.
He said: "He is a man addicted to heroin since the age of 17. He has committed 105 offences since 1985." Most of the offences were for theft or burglary associated with replica hublot watches his drug habit, said Mr Parsons.
He said at the height of his habit Harrison would use 12 bags of heroin a day -- the equivalent of Pounds 150.
Mr Parsons said: "Heroin is a difficult taskmaster. It is not like a tap, you can't turn it off."
He said Harrison had now reduced his intake to one bag a day.

Harrison also faced a charge of breaching a conditional discharge given to him by the court on September 3 for stealing a sandwich.
He was given 84 days in prison for the bag theft and seven days for the breach which will run at the same time.
