Media make-up student Hayley Mills from Wells provided gory special effects make-up and hair design to the crew of Twin Barrels Replica an apocalyptic film last week.
Hayley was one of 11 students from Weston College studying the BTEC National Diploma in Production Arts (make-up) course who spent three days with the film crew supporting them with special effects make-up and hair design.
Last Light, a short film written and directed by Bath Spa University degree students, is an apocalyptic film where moving around outside is made totally impossible by the sun scorching the Earth.
The make-up students were asked to design, produce and apply burn prosthetics, bullet holes and knife wounds, as well as ensuring continuity and making sure actors looked tired and dirty. Students researched burns and produced all the prosthetics before filming started.
Hayley said: discount abercrombie "It was a really good learning, and networking, experience and gave me a good insight into filming. I used the special effects skills I'd learnt on the course but it was a challenge to make sure actors looked the same on the Monday as they did on Friday.
"To solve this we took lots of photos and recorded notes. It will be very rewarding to see the final product."
Festina WatchShe added: "Continuity was the hardest part of the shoot but we took lots of pictures and wrote notes to keep track. The crew made us feel very welcome."
The film contains themes on global warming, fight for survival and good versus evil. Students worked up to six hours a day on the 12-hour shooting days, working to strict filming schedules. The group has been invited to the premiere of the film on June 8 at Bath Spa University.
